AAD Accepting Grant Applications

The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), continuing its effort to promote education and diversity in dermatology, is now accepting applications for research grants and mentorship opportunities.

The Sulzberger Institute for Dermatologic Education provides grants to support innovative education and technology initiatives with the potential to further clinical education in dermatology and improve patient care. Dermatology residents and Academy fellows are encouraged to apply; young dermatologists who have not received significant funding typically have priority. Letters of intent for 2017 are due by November 15, 2016.

The Diversity Mentorship Program provides medical students interested in dermatology with hands-on experience through a one-on-one mentorship with a dermatologist of their choice. Open to first- to fourth-year students who are underrepresented in medicine, the 160-hour program takes place over the course of one month and includes a $1,500 stipend to assist mentees with travel and related expenses. The 2017 application deadline is November 30, 2016.
